Sun of Nothing is a doom metal, sludge, black metal and noise-inspired four-piece band from Athens, Attica, Greece formed in 2000 Following their previous two masterpieces, Sun of Nothing, the spearhead of Greek sonic extremity’s vanguard, are ready to release in collaboration with CTS Productions their third full length album, entitled The Guilt of Feeling Alive. Beyond black metal bleakness, post-metal ingenuity and post-punk numbness, incorporating Koreisch’s cross-genre eclecticism and Godflesh’s nihilistic aura, combining Shining’s catatonic chord pounding, Khanate’s crawling gloom and Discordance Axis’ ear crushing sonic blasts - Sun of Nothing manage to create a sonic identity that’s both personal and radical. Surpassing any easy categorization, they create their unquestionably greatest and richest release to date, adding the peak to an imaginary triptych - a memorial dedicated to the sonic violence and the inner darkness. http://www.sunofnothing.com/ http://www.facebook.com/Sun0fNothing
During their rehearsal era in the late 1980s, the band began as grindcore
and released various demos and splits with other bands from the Athens
area. The group would later alter their sound with influence from proto-black metal bands like Celtic Frost and Venom, and in the process became one of the genre's instigators. Their 5 song demo, Satanas Tedeum, would show a grindcore/black metal crossover, followed by their career-breaking EP, Passage to Arcturo, in 1991.
One of band's first major appearances was on the 1993 "Fuck Christ Tour" consisting of Immortal and Blasphemy. During this concert, some audience members had engaged in cutting and self mutilation that resulted in hospitalization. Before signing to Unisound, Mayhem's Øystein Aarseth had expressed interest in distributing the band through his "Deathlike Silence Productions" label, but due to Aarseth's murder the same year, nothing materialized. The band would sign to Century Media in 1996 and remain on their roster for 10 years before joining Season of Mist.
Rotting Christ have played in many countries outside their native Greece, including both Americas, Greater Europe, Russia, the United Kingdom, Malta and the Middle East. Several heavy metal festivals around the world have hosted the band, including the 2003 Wacken Open Air in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. As of 2012, Rotting Christ have been around 25 years, one of the longest running bands within the black metal
genre. In celebration of the band's longevity, the 2 DVD + 2 CD
compilation, "Non Serviam: A 20 Year Apocryphal Story," shot in Athens
on December 8, 2007, was released worldwide February 23, 2009. Aealo, the band's tenth studio album, was released on February 15, 2010 for Europe and February 23, 2010 for the USA.

Rotting Christ is a Greek black metal band formed in 1987. They are noted for being one of the first black metal bands within this region, as well as a premier act within the European underground metal scene.
Rotting Christ is a melodic black metal band hailing from Athens,
Attica, Greece. They were formed in 1987 with the original line-up Sakis
(vocals, guitar), Jim (bass), Themis (drums) incorporating a roaring
mixture of death metal and grind (a style that was at its height in the
rest of the world at that time except, of course, Greece). Early on
Rotting Christ produced two informal recordings (“Decline’s Return” and
‘Leprosy Of Death”) which basically consist of rehearsals and are not
considered official by the band.
In 1988 the band recorded their first split 7”
EP with Yhorypansi (aka Sound Pollution) which includes nine of their
songs. The style and lyrical content are typical of Grindcore (for
example “Asthmatic Apoplexy”, “Myxomycetes Attack”, “Thyrotoxicosis”,
“Artificial Hypertrophy”).
This particular year, the band decided to dedicate itself solely to
black metal following the footsteps of Bathory, Venom, Possessed and
Celtic Frost. So, in 1989 they circulated their first official demo, the
notorious 5-track “Satanas Tedeum”. The result was incredibly dark and
violent black metal, which the band themselves characterized as “abyssic
death metal”, since the term “black metal” was not yet established in
the underground and death and black metal were interchangeable in those
days. This demo did its rounds in the underground and gave the band a
good name, establishing Rotting Christ as one of the originators of the
second wave of black metal. In the piece “Feast Of The Grand Whore” one
can hear keyboards that were unique for that era and for death metal.
