A Victim Of Society - The Knife

   

 Το κιθαριστικό ντουέτο των A Victim Of Society μας έχει συναρπάσει και ήταν καιρός να γράψουμε κάτι γι αυτό.

       Δυο κιθάρες, ένα Midi και τα beat να παίζουν ηλεκτρονικά μας θυμίζουν λίγο από Suicide στα 80s! Έκαναν την έκρηξή στην  Αθηναϊκή μουσική σκηνή μετά την καταπληκτική τους εμφάνιση - ίσως την καλύτερη του φεστιβάλ- στο Saristra Festival το καλοκαίρι.

     Αποτελείται από τον Βαγγέλη, 23  και τον Φώτη, 23 συμφοιτητές στο Πολυτεχνείο. Τα live τους είναι συναρπαστικά γιατί προσπαθούν να αλλάζουν κάθε φορά τις εκτελέσεις των κομματιών τους πράγμα που δεν σε κάνει να τους βαριέσαι όσες φορές και να τους δεις... 

    Ήδη έχουν κυκλοφορήσει ένα ψηφιακό άλμπουμ τον Νοέμβρη του 2011 και αναμένουμε πως και πως το βινύλιο. Το bandcamp τους μπορείτε να το επισκεφθείτε εδώ . Θα κλείσω με το description που δίνουν οι ίδιοι "an act of self-hypnosis, a deliberate drowning of consciousness by means of rhythmic noise."

Υ.Γ. Τους είδαμε στο live με τους Black Angels με έναν τόσο φρέσκο, ανατρεπτικό ήχο που μας έκανε να να τους θεωρούμε μια απ τις καλύτερες μπάντες του σήμερα στην χώρα μας.

Savage Land - Why

Τους Savage Land μόλις τους γνώρισα, και είμαι κατά κάποιον τρόπο χαρούμενος (όπως και με οτιδήποτε καινούργιο που γνωρίζω).
Έψαχνα να βρώ κάτι να ποστάρω στο Blog, και έπεσα πάνω σε μια φετινή ψηφιακή συλλογή της Spinalonga Records με το όνομα ''A Sampler Darkly'' (κάποια στιγμή θα κάνουμε μια πιο αναλυτική παρουσίαση της συλλογής μέσα απο αυτόν τον χώρο).
Το θέμα είναι πως το αυτί μου ''έπεσε'' πάνω στο Why, ενα κομμάτι με Trip Hop, Experimental επιρροές, όμορφα φωνητικά, και κλασσικές μελωδίες, που παρέα με τα Ambient στοιχεία του το κάνουν ακόμα πιο ελκυστικό.
Μια καλοφτιαγμένη δουλειά που μου έφερε στο μυαλό κατι απο No-Man και Pineapple Thief.
Πιστέυω πως στο μέλλον θα ακούμε περισσότερα για αυτούς και οτι, ''τα ωραιότερα ταξίδια δεν έχουν γίνει ακόμα''

Quiet Pliz - Quiet Pliz (EP)

Μια όμορφη πραγματικά σύνθεση από τους Quiet Pliz μέσα απο το ομώνυμο EP του 2013.
τέσσερα Post Rock, Experimental κομμάτια, που κάποιες στιγμές είναι μελαγχολικά και κάποιες άλλες τόσο δυναμικά που νιώθεις τις κιθάρες να σου τρυπάνε το μυαλό.
Μια καταπληκτική δουλειά απο μια μπάντα που αν συνεχίσει με  αυτόν τον ρυθμό, σε σύντομο χρονικό διάστημα θα είναι απο τα μεγάλα ονόματα του είδους.

Circassian - Procrastinational EP

Μετά τις έντονες φήμες για Full Length album μέσα στον χρόνο από τους Circassian, αποφασίσαμε να κάνουμε μια μικρή παρουσίαση του δέυτερου τους EP Procrastinational, που κυκλοφόρησε το 2012 από την Spinalonga Records.

Τρία Psychedelic, Experimental ''διαμαντάκια'', με Ethnic ''πινελιές'' και Kraut, Post επιρροές, που ακούγονται με μεγάλη ευχαρίστηση απο οποιονδήποτε ακροατή,  ανεξαρτήτως γούστου.
<<Μοιάζει σαν να ζητάει ραντεβου η ανατολή απο την δύση, και ο τόπος συνάντησης να είναι η μουσική τους>>

Εμείς τους είδαμε ζωντανά και μας άρεσαν, παρότι μας φάνηκαν στην αρχή λίγο''ψαρωμένοι'',  επικράτησε τελικά η ενέργεια του νεαρού της ηλικίας τους και τα πήγαν μια χαρά.
Το μόνο μείον είναι οτι πρέπει να φτιάξουν λίγο τον ήχο στα live τους (χωρίς αυτό να συγκαταλέγεται αποκλειστικά σαν δικό τους λάθος).

Afformance - The Place (New EP)

Το The Place είναι η καινούργια δουλεία των Afformance, και δημιουργήθηκε με σκοπό να καλύψει τις μουσικές ανάγκες της θεατρικής παράστασης ''Ο Τοπος'', (της μη κερδοσκοπικής οργάνωσης Bitchy D.) και αποτελείται απο τέσσερις πολύ όμορφες Post Rock, Experimental συνθέσεις.
Εμείς το ακούσαμε, μας άρεσε, και το προτείνουμε, οχι μόνο στους λάτρεις του είδους, αλλα γενικά της μουσικής.

Lüüp - Spiralling

Ακουγοντας τους, συνειδητοποιεις  ποσο ομορφο ειναι το παντρεμα της jazz με το ambient, και ποσο δενουν οι experimental ηχοι με την folk. απο τα  πρωτα δευτερολεπτα καταλαβαινεις τις ethnic επιρροες, και την αγαπη τους για την κελτικη μουσικη παραδοση. οσο συνεχιζεται η ακροαση για μια στιγμη εμφανιζονται μπροστα σου σκηνες απο ταινιες του kurosawa και αλλοτε απο ταινιες επικες με μαγους και δρακους, και αυτο γιατι οι  Lüüp δεν ειναι απλα μια ακομα μουσικη κολεκτιβα, ειναι μια ομαδα ανθρωπων που πηραν το δωρο της φυσης που λεγεται μουσικη και το εκαναν επικοινωνια

2l8 - Innocent Smile

Τα πρωτα συναισθηματα  οταν ακουω τους 2L8 ειναι αναμεικτα. απο την μια χαιρομαι και καυχιεμαι να εχω μια τετοια μπαντα στην ελλαδα, και απο την αλλη νιωθω πως ειναι καιρος να μας πουνε αντιο,  να ακολουθησουν τον δρομο που τους αξιζει, και να τα λεμε πια μεσα απο την μουσικη τους και μεσα απο την εξαισια ερμηνεια του k the clown.

Chromatic Sequence - Belle Epoque

Οι Chromatic Sequence είναι ένα μουσικό σχήμα το οποίο γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 2007. Ιδρυτής και συνθέτης του σχήματος είναι ο Γιώργος Στεφανακίδης, του οποίου το όραμα μοιράζονται εξαιρετικοί καλλιτέχνες. Το όραμα αυτό είναι η σύμπραξη δύο μουσικών κόσμων, αυτού της κλασικής και αυτού της ηλεκτρονικής. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι η δημιουργία ενός ήχου καινούργιου και πρωτότυπου που αποκτά ιδιαίτερες διαστάσεις όταν το βλέπει κανείς live!
Το πρώτο πόνημα του σχήματος ήταν o δίσκος “7 μέρες μακριά” που κυκλοφόρησε το 2007 και παρουσιάστηκε σε συναυλίες που χαρακτηρίστηκαν για την ιδιαιτερότητά τους τόσο μουσικά όσο και εικαστικά. Ο πρώτος τους self-release δίσκος διανεμήθηκε δωρεάν στις συναυλίες τους και χαρακτηρίζει την ιδιαιτερότητα του σχήματος ως προς τη σχέση του με τη μουσική και το κοινό.
Το 2010 οι Chromatic Sequence κυκλοφόρησαν το δεύτερό τους δίσκο με τίτλο “Allou Fun Dark”. Το έργο αποτελείται από σκοτεινά τραγούδια και κείμενα (γραμμένα από το Γιώργο Στεφανακίδη) που παρουσιάστηκε ως μουσική/θεατρική παράσταση στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό.
Το καινούργιο έργο του σχήματος με τίτλο “Belle Epoque” είναι ένα βήμα πιο μακριά στην μουσική αναζήτηση των Chromatic Sequence. Το κλασικό γίνεται κλασικότερο και το ηλεκτρονικό ηλεκτρονικότερο! Η ορχήστρα μεγάλωσε και οι μουσικές απαιτήσεις αυξήθηκαν. Οι μελωδίες μπλέκονται με τραγούδι, breaks, λούπες και ρυθμούς πειραγμένους δημιουργώντας ένα ηχητικό τοπίο που ακροβατεί ανάμεσα στο ambient και το noise χωρίς ποτέ να χάνει το μουσικό και μελωδικό του ενδιαφέρον.

The Sailing Tomatoes - She's Gone

The Sailing Tomatoes is a music band, mainly consisted of a group of childhood friends coming from one of Thessaloniki's neighborhoods, in Greece. As kids, they have always dreamed to travel around the world playing music. It all starts in the summer of 2010, when Giorgos Moutoukias (bouzouki) and Petros Anagnostopoulos (accordion) decide to get to know the islands of Greece, playing music on the street, just to make a living for the summer. Skiathos is their first destination, where after a few days Philippos Seinkman (acoustic guitar) joins them. The three of them play together songs they like, however, while traveling, they also find the inspiration for creating their own songs. In early August, they meet with Denis Dowling (vocals), in Ios.They jam together and give the promise to meet again. Denis is a skipper so, the day after, each one leaves Ios; Denis follows the call of the sea, the other three continue their journey to the islands. In (the middle of) September, Denis joins them in Thessaloniki, where they all together write a few songs. They come up with the music, he adds the lyrics. Their next destination is Zagorohoria, where Vangelis Domanos (percussions), another childhood friend, follows them in their musical journey. By the middle of the winter, in Athens, Theodoros Moutoukias (acoustic bass) becomes part of the band as well. Looking for a name to give their group, they inspired by a play on words and they finally name the band Sailing Tomatoes. In May 2011, they record their first album Δρόμος/ Dromos, at Sofita Studios, in Athens. A summer full of new journeys and music is about to come, before they return once again at the fold, Thessaloniki, where they meet with Dennis just before he leaves for the U.S. . The band stays for the winter in Thessaloniki. Orfeas Kappa (clarinet), the newest member, officially joins the band there. They had originally met Orfeas in Volos last spring and saw him again at Heraklion of Crete and Syros. Their friendship became stronger and they played for the first time together in Naxos. In May 2012, the Sailing Tomatoes record their second album Ψιχαλίζει στα παλιά / Psichalizei sta Palia, at Shellac Studios.

we.own.the.sky - Raindrops And Oceans

we.own.the.sky is a five-piece hailing from Athens, Greece. It all started somewhere in 2008, when Ilias and Kostas, in guitar and bass respectively, decided to get together and start jamming on ideas. In the process of trying to find other members, the first songs started to take form, which where heavily influenced from the classic post-rock sound.

Illegal Operation - Don't explain

 The band consisting of Manolis Angelakis (slide guitar/vocals), Stathis Ioannou (guitar/vocals), Costas Katalimatias (bass guitar), Antony Livieratos (keyboards/vocals) and Marios Sarakinos (drums), was formed to perform for just a single gig at the Athens Blues Festival in the summer of 2000. Called hobART phASE Blue Project for that particular appereance, the name did not last long. Their debut received a warm reception, forcing them to get serious about it all by first trying to find a new name for themselves! After of several hours and several ridiculous names-for example Los Clanovalvidos Musicales- they still hadn..t come up with a name. A second after Paul Ioannou had come up with ....Illegal Operation.., he fainted.. a perfect name. Once ready, a batch of songs was recorded at Action Studios a weekend of October 2000. Produced by Chris Chatzistamou, the Illegal Operation logo designed by Yanna and Solis and CD cover created by Yannis Nikolaou, Hitch Hyke took the chance and released ..Blue Project.. in June of 2001, preceded by a CD single called ..Space Boogie.. and an EP ..Careless Love.. all on Hitch Hyke records. From September 2000 to October 2001 lineup includes Yiannis Marinos on the trombone. In 2002 the mini L.P. ..The Bust.. is released by Hitch Hyke records. The position of bassist from September 2001-2003 is often occupied by Costa Kotzambopoulos as, for professional reasons Costas Katalimatias needs to travel overseas. In the spring of 2003 Antony Livieratos leaves the band, while at the same time DJ Lostromos begins Djing for the group before and after their live sets. Soon DJ Lostromos becomes the group..s P.R. manager.Since November 2009 Giorgos Tsalkidis aka DJ Lostromos joined the band as a regular member playing guitar, percussions, backing vocals etc. Another regular Panagiotis Kakalias is not only the band..s sound engineer but a valuable collaborator as well. Illegal Operation insist that they are first and foremost a live band and that they are at their best onstage. That is one of the reasons they have built an ever increasing fan club which is run by Danny Aliprantis. So if you are in the vicinity when they perform

Spectralfire- Trust In Time

Spectralfire is the debut solo project of Athens-based, musician/songwriter Labis Kountourogiannis also known as the co-founder and lead guitarist for the Greek post punk outfit Modrec.
A performance at the Athenian, Small Music Theatre during the 2007 'Burnt Festival', initiated the start of a series of successful performances, such as the 2008 European Music Day, as well as starring as an opening act for the live show of Patrick Duff (Strangelove) along with local band Serpentine. 
Soundscapes based on a solid electronic platform, wrapped up in synth-washed break-beats, manifesting a warm downtempo feel, are in perfect accordance with the sensuous lyrics which speak of past-midnight erotical confessions, lust and contradiction, taking place somewhere in the city, after dark.

Mary and The Boy - Soon I'll be Away from you (Experimental)

Mary and The Boy are a journey through time. A time machine. Through their piano punk performances they express their feelings about the crucial social movements of the past centuries.
They are interested in Berlin’s middle war cabaret music, 50s Hollywood musicals, artists that expresses the working class like Ken Loach and Sex Pistols , Andy Warhol’s and David Lynch’s pop art, the US comedy movement that shine through the ashes of Saturday Night Live, artists that have a main interest for the Word of Jesus like Robert Duvall and Fiodor Dostoyefski etc.
They have opened concerts for Holly Golightly, Four Tet and Marc Almond and write music for theatre productions.
