Spectralfire is the debut solo project of Athens-based, musician/songwriter Labis Kountourogiannis also known as the co-founder and lead guitarist for the Greek post punk outfit Modrec. A performance at the Athenian, Small Music Theatre during the 2007 'Burnt Festival', initiated the start of a series of successful performances, such as the 2008 European Music Day, as well as starring as an opening act for the live show of Patrick Duff (Strangelove) along with local band Serpentine. Soundscapes based on a solid electronic platform, wrapped up in synth-washed break-beats, manifesting a warm downtempo feel, are in perfect accordance with the sensuous lyrics which speak of past-midnight erotical confessions, lust and contradiction, taking place somewhere in the city, after dark. http://www.restlesswind.com/ http://www.facebook.com/spectralfire

Ekos Quartet Biography It was when ForTune gave some music
experimentations on classical and hip-hop sounds to The Ant, and he
immediately proposed him to form "something". After working together on
music and lyrics during 2004, Stelx joined them as a guitarist in 2005.
Not much later than that, the three of them found Eskimint, who had been
working on trip-hop vocals by herself. They formed Ekos
Quartet
in November 2005, and recorded their first song, “Fortune’s lake”, in
January 2006 and they performed live for the first time in December 06.
During 2007, the band gave many live concerts and kept producing new
tracks. This opportunity gave them the courage and the inspiration to
start expanding their musical horizons, mixing downbeat, electronica,
funk, hip-hop, jazz breaks, post rock, classical samples and ambient
sounds, all based on a tripping background and mood. Their first release
was the song “Free with you” in “Concealed Truth” compilation by
Andrianos Papadeas (June 07). They also released 4 tracks in the
multi-ep part of the compilation "City Campers" a bit later. In 2008,
they have appeared as a quintet in some concerts, after the addititon of
George PapaG (bass), while Mandragora has been helping the band on
their live sound. They also completed the recordings of 13 songs in
"Silicon" studio. S-fx and Ekos have mixed their debut album, "In a
dream full of charm", while Bob Katz did the mastering. Ekos Quartet had
been working on this album until late 2008 (about to be released in
2009). Their aim is to achieve evolution, improvisation, experimentation
and originality through their musical journey, during which they can
express their emotions and talk about a world that can be more beautiful
and charming, rather than controllable.
Started making beats in 2007, Mononome is a sample-based producer from
Thessaloniki, Greece. His sounds could not really fit into a sub-culture
of sound, but instrumental Hip-Hop/Trip-Hop seems to do it justice, of
course, always with a twist. Experimenting with samples from the 50’s
until the late 80’s he’s always trying to blend as many tunes and
grooves possible when creating a song, always maintaining a jazzy
element whether that’s in the fore or the background, processing all of
it on analog hardware only, for the sake of true and warm sound.
He is also a part of “Lost In The Woods”. A Trip-Hop
band that consists on live instrumentation and vocals upon “dusty” drums
and crackling samples. At the end of the day, it’s all about constantly
digging for records and evolving his sound, appreciating the beautiful
art that is, sampling.
It was when ForTune gave some music experimentations on classical and
hip-hop sounds to The Ant, and he immediately proposed him to form
“something new”. After working together on music and lyrics during 2004,
they tried to apply trip-hop sounds on Greek lyrics, forming the band
“In&Out” in 2005, with the addition of a jazz/blues female singer
and Stelx, Ekos Quartet’s guitarist at present, but the results of their
effort turned out to be unsuccessful. The singer left the band
peacefully, and ForTune, The Ant and Stelx found the perfect
replacement, Eskimint, who had been working on trip-hop vocals by
herself.
They formed Ekos Quartet in November 2005 in Greece ,
and recorded their first song, “Fortune’s Lake”, in January 2006. This
gave them the courage and the inspiration to start expanding their
musical horizons, mixing downbeat, electronica, funk, jazz breaks,
alternative rap, and chill sounds, all based on a tripping background
and mood.
Night On Earth is a group that emerged from an improvisation that was
performed live by Paracroussis, a devoted post-music sound-terrorist
collective.
Their musical style can be portrayed as a puzzle of trip
hop and blues noir, tuned in a jazzy mood, under an improvising spirit;
entering trippy and moody soundscapes that echo cinematic references.
Their
sound is more influenced by the images of Jim Jarmusch and Wong Kar Wai
than a specific musical movement. Their live shows are occasionally
accompanied by visuals, short films and performance.
Night On Earth
is a group consisted by eight musicians of diverse musical backrounds
and influences. Apart from their full-band performances, they also
perform with another two projects. Under the name Night On Earth 'In a
silent way' they play as an acoustic trio and as Night On Earth 'impro',
members of the band improvise alongside with guest musicians.
