Πριν λίγες μέρες άκουσα για πρώτη φορά το ''Explanation Bellow'' των Million Hollers, και η αλήθεια είναι πως δεν περνάει μέρα που να μην το βάλω έστω και μια φορά να παίξει. Ακούγεται στα αυτιά μου τόσο αυθεντικό, τόσο ρόκ, που μεταμορφώνεται σε ......εθιστική εμπειρία. περιμένουμε πως και πως την πρώτη τους δουλειά καθαρά για ακουστική θεραπεία.
Οι Million Hollers δημιουργήθηκαν τον Άυγουστο του 2011. Η αγάπη τους για τις παλιατζούρες τους έφερε κοντά και κάπως έτσι δημιούργησαν τη δική τους dry εκδοχή των blues, με δύο κιθάρες και τύμπανα, σε κοντράστ με τα γυναικεία φωνητικά και την ευρηματική έλλειψη μπάσου. Μέσα στο φθινόπωρο αναμένεται και η πρώτη τους κυκλοφορία, το ομώνυμο 7ιντσο που θα ξεπηδήσει από τα σκέλια της Hands In Sand. Πέρασαν σχεδόν τέσσερα χρόνια από την κυκλοφορία του ομώνυμου άλμπουμ των Biri Biri από την Spinalonga Records, και είναι ακόμα τόσο φρέσκος οσο ήταν και την πρώτη μέρα κυκλοφορίας του.
Οι εκπληκτικές Jazz συνθέσεις, οι ρυθμικές Funk μπασογραμμές, τα ανατριχιαστικά φωνητικά του Mihail Paul Mihailos, τα αυτοσχέδια κρουστά, και τα εμπνευσμένα πνευστά, καταφέρνουν να κατασκευάσουν ένα ονειρικό μουσικό τοπίο, ξεχωριστό για τον κάθε ακροατή.
έντεκα κομμάτια που με το πέρασμα του χρόνου θα είναι το ίδιο πολύτιμα.
Το τι μπορεί να άλλαξε στήν ελλάδα, και τα τελευταία χρόνια οι μουσικές παραγωγές είναι η μια καλύτερη απο την άλλη δεν μπορώ να το καταλάβω.
Ισως μαζί με την νοοτροπία των περισσότερων καλλιτεχνών, να άλλαξε και αυτή των δισκογραφικών εταιριών και να μην βλέπουν πλέον τόσο εμπορικά τους ΄΄πελάτες΄΄ τους.
Αυτός μπορεί να είναι και ένας απο τους λόγους που τον τελευταίο καιρό κυκλοφορούν ολο και περισσότερες σωστές παραγωγές.
Μια απο αυτές είναι και το Hazy Moon, ενα Rock άλμπουμ με επιρροές απο 60s και 70s, και αρκετές δόσεις απο Soul, και Blues, (προσωπικά μου θύμισε κάτι απο JJ Cale), και που αγάπησα απο την πρώτη του κιόλας ακρόαση.
Οσο για τον Simon Bloom? (Συμεών Νικολαίδης)...........Ενα μεγάλο μπράβο τόσο για την μουσική του, οσο και για τις επιλογές των καλλιτεχνών, σαν ιδιοκτήτης δισκογραφικής εταιρίας που είναι.
Το Spare Some Change των The Big Nose Attack, ειναι ενα απο τα κομματια που αγαπησαμε αμεσως σε αυτο το blog. οι σαφεις επιρροες απο black keys και white stripes, μαζι με τα πειραγμενα ΄΄βρωμικα΄΄ φωνητικα , δινουν μια αγρια ομορφια, οχι μονο στο συγκεκριμενο κομματι αλλα και σε ολοκληρο το album ( the big nose attack s/t).
Πριν λιγες μερες κυκλοφορισε και το νεο τους Album, Paint it Blue, αλλα για την ωρα δεν βρηκαμε καποιο δειγμα να παρουσιασουμε. Στο προσεχες μελον που θα ασχοληθουμε και παλι μαζι τους σιγουρα θα ποσταρουμε 1και 2 και 3 κομματια απο την μπαντα που προσθεσαμε στην κατηγορια, αγαπημενα μας!!.
Kid Flicks was born in Lefkada 23 years ago. His self-taught relationship with music started in his high school years. At times he had participated in some groups, until in December 2006 he decided to start writing his own music, without having something specific in mind, except the name “Flight36-B”. Ο Θάνος Ανεστόπουλος υπήρξε μέλος των Διάφανων Κρίνων. Εδώ και είκοσι χρόνια διαμορφώνει και δίνει ένα ιδιαίτερο ύφος τραγουδοποιίας, ως στιχουργός, συνθέτης και ερμηνευτής, αφήνοντας ένα καθαρά προσωπικό στίγμα, που συστατικά του είναι η επικοινωνία και η αμεσότητα, η αυθεντική rock ματιά του, η εναλλαγή συναισθημάτων, η κατάνυξη από τον συνδυασμό ποίησης και λυρισμού και η χαρακτηριστική χροιά της φωνής του.Η αγάπη του για την ποίηση τον ώθησε στη μελοποίηση ποιημάτων μεγάλων ξένων και Ελλήνων ποιητών. Ποιήματα που συναντάμε και σε ολόκληρη τη δισκογραφία των Διάφανων Κρίνων από το 1994 ως και το 2008 – έξι δίσκοι και πολλές συμμετοχές σε tribute αφιερώματα και συλλογές, που απόσπασαν τις καλύτερες κριτικές. Αξιοσημείωτη ήταν και η επιμέλεια που είχε για την κυκλοφορία του βιβλίου «Ο Γύρος Της Μέρας Σε Ογδόντα Κόσμους» συνοδευόμενου από CD. Μια πρωτότυπη, μοναδική για τα εκδοτικά δεδομένα, πράξη, διανθισμένη από τα προσωπικά του ζωγραφικά σχέδια, που παρουσιάζονται πλέον σε κάθε ζωντανή του εμφάνιση, δίνοντας την ευκαιρία εικονοποίησης των στίχων του.Ο Θάνος Ανεστόπουλος έχει συμμετάσχει σε πολλές συναυλίες κοινοφελούς χαρακτήρα. Flakes are a 5 piece band currently based between London (UK), Athens and Patras (Gr). They formed in 2006 and have appeared in many festivals and different venues in Greece and abroad ever since (supporting bands such as Bloc Party, Primal Scream, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Foals, Nine Black Alps, Puressence +). While in the studio for the recording of their debut album Flakes were selected to perform in Exit Festival 2008 (Novi Sad, Serbia) for MTV Live Music Stage. In September 2009 being the finalists of CocaCola Soundwave Contest v.3, the band had the opportunity to record new material at RAK studios, London. BLML hail from Athens, Greece. The band was founded in 2010 by the acclaimed lead guitarist of the legendary greek punk garage group “the Last Drive” George Karanikolas. Back in the 1990’s, George had formed a band called “Blackmail”. The band cut three albums under that name: “Life after Death” in 1993, “Overexposed” in 1995 and “7” in 2001. Soon after, their paths diverged, but they met again in 2010 and started working together on George’s new material. In December 2011 they released their first LP “the Gift” on the local label “Happy Crasher” and a year later they decided to hit the road. The band consisting of Manolis Angelakis (slide guitar/vocals), Stathis Ioannou (guitar/vocals), Costas Katalimatias (bass guitar), Antony Livieratos (keyboards/vocals) and Marios Sarakinos (drums), was formed to perform for just a single gig at the Athens Blues Festival in the summer of 2000. Called hobART phASE Blue Project for that particular appereance, the name did not last long. Their debut received a warm reception, forcing them to get serious about it all by first trying to find a new name for themselves! After of several hours and several ridiculous names-for example Los Clanovalvidos Musicales- they still hadn..t come up with a name. A second after Paul Ioannou had come up with ....Illegal Operation.., he fainted.. a perfect name. Once ready, a batch of songs was recorded at Action Studios a weekend of October 2000. Produced by Chris Chatzistamou, the Illegal Operation logo designed by Yanna and Solis and CD cover created by Yannis Nikolaou, Hitch Hyke took the chance and released ..Blue Project.. in June of 2001, preceded by a CD single called ..Space Boogie.. and an EP ..Careless Love.. all on Hitch Hyke records. From September 2000 to October 2001 lineup includes Yiannis Marinos on the trombone. In 2002 the mini L.P. ..The Bust.. is released by Hitch Hyke records. The position of bassist from September 2001-2003 is often occupied by Costa Kotzambopoulos as, for professional reasons Costas Katalimatias needs to travel overseas. In the spring of 2003 Antony Livieratos leaves the band, while at the same time DJ Lostromos begins Djing for the group before and after their live sets. Soon DJ Lostromos becomes the group..s P.R. manager.Since November 2009 Giorgos Tsalkidis aka DJ Lostromos joined the band as a regular member playing guitar, percussions, backing vocals etc. Another regular Panagiotis Kakalias is not only the band..s sound engineer but a valuable collaborator as well. Illegal Operation insist that they are first and foremost a live band and that they are at their best onstage. Ηis Majesty The King Of Spain is the project of the young song-maker Nektarios Kouvaras. The almost obsessive focus on the first listen, the intense use of the element of repetition and the innate aversion to anything cynical, act as an alibi for the classification of compositions in the broader category of pop, despite the frequent incorporation of blues and folk elements. Initially as a (semi) acoustic trio and later as a six-piece band, His Majesty The King Of Spain have performed at a large number of venues (Gagarin, Stavros Tou Notou, Kittaro, Rodeo, Ianos, Stage-Larisa, Akti Dimeon-Patras , European Music Day etc.) and have opened for artists such as Jonathan Richman, Marc Almond and The Radio Dept.
Timemachines. They are not exist, science can tell. They are even not exist as one word in the Microsoft Office vocabulary. And then, they happen. Guaranted. Any science couldn't explain the human lust. We won everything. We reached the moon (yes, we did...). We did wedlocks and wars. Fine works. Fireworks. And yet unknown the wills of the beast. Katerina Panopoulou started creating music as a teenager with friends, and that's when she got the bug. One year later when the fledgling band broke up, she got herself her first electric guitar and wrote her own songs.
In 2001 she moved to England to study music. Two years later, back in Greece she teamed up with guitarist Gina Dimakopoulou, violinist Katerina Michailidi, bassist Iakovos Siaparinas, drummer Dimitris Panagiotopoulos and formed the band Dementia Praecox. After many live performances, she moved to London to further her studies. During her stay in London, she performed as a solo acoustic artist. In 2007 under the indissoluble name Katrin the Thrill, she participated in the Coca Cola Soundwave competition and won a place among the 5 best music acts. The video clip of the song "If You Believe in Dreams" was shot and the track was included in the "Music on the Coke side of Life" compilation. For the next 2 years Katrin the Thrill performed in Greece at Terra Vibe, Gagarin 205, Vrachon Theater, European Music Day, Bios, Athens Gay Pride, Festival Against Racism,Indie Free Festival and was the opening act for Manic Street Preachers, GregDulli and Electrelane.
In 2009, following the devastating fires that swept through Greece, as well as many other places around the world, the concept for "Earth Is Calling Us" EP was devised, and the need to take action and help reforestation was fully realized. In December 2010, "Earth Is Calling Us" was released as her first solo project with Gina on guitar, Maria Roka on bass and Tolis Toleas on drums. The EP is dedicated to the earth and the environment and part of the proceeds goes towards the reforestation of the burned forests of Greece. In January 2012 the first reforestation was successfully completed.
In December 2011, after eight months of intensive studio work, her new album was ready to be released, but an unfortunate event postponed everything; at the last minute the record label deal broke down and all production costs needed to be covered for the album to see the light of day. A successful Indiegogo online campaign was organized, and Katrin's fans raised over $2,000 to bring her unique vision, "Evil Eye Charm" to reality.In September 2012, her new album "Evil Eye Charm" was released and gained outstanding reviews
The 15 50 was formed in early 1998 and currently consists of: Alexandros Michos-vocals, guitar-Rousseto Dimitroglou, Tassos Stavraka-keys, Joseph Moshopoulos-guitars - vocals, John Rani (drums) and John Koumetti-bass. DISCOGRAPHY In September 1999 they released their debut self-titled album with the record company PLANETWORKS. This album received excellent reviews from "difficult" critics (including but Zeal-ATHINORAMA, Lambropoulos DIFONO-u) and the preference of the producer of the radio station "Atlantis" (five weeks at number 1 of the top-ten producers - together).The album, with producer John Metheniti (NITRO FM), contains eleven tracks, including an instrumental and a cover version of Radiohead. The first VIDEO CLIP the eponymous album is the 15 50 "isoun pantou", which aired from late February 2000 to November of that year the channel MAD TV. The second VIDEO CLIP played on the same channel by early June 2001 until October of that year, and on the track 'traveler of the desert.
